Process Paper
Why we chose this topic: There were many reasons displaying why we decided to chose this topic of the Greek War of Independence. One is that one of us is from Greek decent. Both of us on the other hand, enjoy learning about the history of the world, specifically wars. Also, history is one of our strong subjects, so why not build upon our prior knowledge? We also thought that the Greeks craved freedom, and that we believe they are a very tremendous role model.
How we conducted our research: when we were conducting our research we used mostly computers, along with some books. We also talked to one of our father who is Greek; he gave us some ideas and background information about the war. He told us to find some key figures in the war. And we did, and we were able to get a lot of information out of it. We also used the internet to find as much information as we could possibly find. As we were researching, we recorded our data on a notecard sheet our teacher gave us to jot things down.
How we created our website: Once we got all of our information gathered into organized spots, it was easy to create the website. We used our information on the side as we were typing the informational tabs and playing around with the page layouts. We kept in mind all the criteria’s for what makes a good website. And as we were creating it, we ran into some trouble, like which layout to use and then how to make our data fit right in the layouts. It was a rigorous process, but we manage to do it just fine.
How our project relates to the theme: Our project is the Greek War of Independence, and the theme of History Day is, “Revolution, Reaction, and Reform”. The Greek War is obviously a revolution. It was when the Greeks rebelled against the Ottoman Empire. After the Greeks won, they were a little unstable, government wise. So as one could see the Greek War of Independence is an example of a revolution, and that is how it relates to the History Day theme of “Revolution, Reaction, and Reform”.
